Hi, I am Moetypes, Morgan Olivia, Elmer, and the owner of Vintage Verse. I’m 13 years old and enjoy poetry, family, friends, music, and typewriters.
December 25, 2022 was when typewriters changed my life. It all started with an Underwood from 1947 and since then I have gathered another 30 or so!
I have typed the Calico Print in the Telegraph Office at Calico Ghost Town for Calico and California Days. I have also typed at different pop-up events and held Type-Ins and Workshops at amazing venues—including: Inspired Gifts, Stardust Boutique, Sweet Treasure Shack, Wildgoose Vintage, Upland Art Walk and Hwy 62 Art Tours with L.A. Marler. Meeting a myriad of amazing humans has led to several custom-projects and In 2023, my short story poem “Robot Pigeon” in collaboration with my Tía Holly’s Assemblage Robot Frame, and QR Code to link into Pigeon Art at pigeonart.xyz was shown at The Hive Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles. I have entered my current project, “Watercolor Typewriter ” for their December 2024 Art Show. My Science Fair project, “What Typewriter Types Faster?” made it to the county level, placing 3rd! While visiting France last summer, I typed under the Eiffel Tower after procuring a French Language machine at a local antique shop. My adventures continued to the TypOsphere L. A. Marler Art Gallery in St. Louis where I held a Type-in, met a typewriter repairman, Dave, and even got to sleep in the museum!
When I am not typing, I am playing guitar, piano, or tennis; hanging out with my dog, Harmony; working on school assignments, especially ASB (Associated Student Body) ; or watching the latest shows!
My vision for Watercolor Typewriter was to make something that could type in colors instead of in printed letters. My hope for the future is that people can let me know what they see within this machine. Perspectives are a massive part of physiology and one thing may be something that leads to the next. Within the machine you may see hope with all the bright colors or you may even sense something even bigger. How does this typewriter make you feel, what memory does it trigger, what does this make you think of or about, how will you view this machine in the future, in fact how would you have viewed it 50-100 years ago, what do you interpret from Watercolor Typewriter?
