Extended Bio

Rachel’s pioneering research continues to evolve through her Ph.D. work with the Knit Lab research group at Politecnico di Milano and the Tangible Media Group at the MIT Media Lab. Her doctoral research focuses on designing innovative products from both technological and ethical perspectives, addressing contemporary issues shaping our future. Rachele is fervently dedicated to raising awareness about privacy and human rights.

This commitment has brought her to numerous keynote stages, including the IAPP (International Association for Privacy Professionals), where she serves as the Artist in Residence for 2024, and TEDx. A cornerstone of her research is the dual objective of protecting facial biometric data and raising awareness about the misuse of facial recognition technology, a pressing issue that, if overlooked, could erode individual rights.

This mission culminates in her startup, Cap_able, which she founded to transform her innovative designs into practical solutions for citizens. Cap_able epitomizes the collaboration of engineering, textile, and fashion to promote awareness and empower people. This visionary endeavor earned her a spot on the ForbesUnder30 list in 2023, recognizing her impactful contributions to the field.

Fundamental to her journey is the preservation of a relentless curiosity to learn, the joy of understanding, and the desire to communicate (B. Munari).
